Thank you to our 2023 Open Gardens supporters, garden hosts, sponsors, and volunteers! With your help, we raised £6,000 for specialist end-of-life care in our community.
On Sunday 25 June 2023 ten gardens across Budleigh Salterton opened to the public in support of Budleigh Salterton & District Hospiscare Open Gardens, raising £6,000 for the charity.
Our chairman Martin Briggs says, “This far exceeded my expectations and this incredible result is all down to our garden hosts, volunteers, our sponsor Urban Earth, and the supporters who came out to the gardens. All the funds raised will go to helping pay the costs of palliative care for patients of the Budleigh Medical Centre and the Woodbury Surgery.
From the charity’s point of view, raising these funds is obviously vital for us but also being able to raise awareness of our charity through such a great social event in our community is just as important. It is a wonderful result!”
About 400 visitors plus children enjoyed the gardens on the gloriously warm and sunny day. Garden hosts across Budleigh Salterton put forward a huge effort in preparing and opening their beautiful gardens on the day. They also provided extras – like teas, cakes, Pimms, prosecco, table tennis, croquet, plants, paintings, ceramics, jigsaws, books – that made such a difference to the overall impact of the event and together make a huge contribution to the financial outcome.
