What we do

We pay for all the costs of patients registered with the Budleigh Salterton Medical Centre and Woodbury Surgery who are cared for by Hospiscare’s end of life services.

We cover Budleigh Salterton, Woodbury, Aylesbeare, Bicton, Clyst St George, Clyst St Mary, Colaton Raleigh, East Budleigh, Ebford, Exton, Farringdon, Newton Poppleford, Otterton, Woodbury Salterton and the surrounding villages. If you are registered to either of the Budleigh or Woodbury medical practices and live anywhere in the area, we will pay for your care.

We work closely with Hospiscare Exeter, Mid and East Devon who provide all the clinical services that are needed by patients in our area, including responsibility for the nurses and providing the in-patient unit at the Hospice at Searle House in Exeter.

We support those patients and their families through our various volunteer services e.g. providing listening support, assisting at patient support groups, transport driving and sitting/befriending.

We raise our own funds to cover our costs and rely entirely on the support of the local community for this.

We are financially independent of Hospiscare and do not receive any funds directly from the NHS or any other public bodies. The Hospiscare shop in Budleigh Salterton is run by Hospiscare Exeter, Mid & East Devon and does not provide any funding to us.
